The Canberra Raiders have resigned promising young Aboriginal half Travis Waddell until the end of the 2012 season.

The 20 year-old has enjoyed a rapid rise through the clubs ranks, making his NRL debut this year and playing a total of 10 games for the season.

Travis has also earned selection into the Indigenous All Stars team and was a member of the Raiders premiership winning Toyota Cup team in 2008.

"I still have to try to cement my place in the No 9 jersey and hopefully this year I can be more consistent," Waddell said. It's going to be hard work, Glen Buttriss and Alan Tongue are both great players, so I just have to make sure I'm fit and put my head down and work hard."
